What Tabmood records

When tracking is on, Tabmood reads the active tab’s address to identify its website domain. It stores the domain, visit start time, estimated duration, and assigned category. It also stores your categories, website rules, and preferences. The dashboard uses this data to show daily and weekly browsing summaries.

Tabmood does not save page paths, search queries, fragments, page text, screenshots, form entries, or keystrokes. Older saved full addresses are reduced to domains when the extension upgrades. Private browsing windows and non-HTTP(S) pages are excluded.

Browsing time is an estimate of active use. Tabmood pauses when your browser reports the device inactive or locked, or when no browser window is focused. Long sleep gaps are discarded. Categories and the visual mood summary are for reflection; they do not diagnose your emotional state or measure productivity.

Where data is stored

Browsing history, categories, website rules, and most settings are kept in your browser’s local IndexedDB for the extension. The theme choice is kept in localStorage. A temporary active tracking checkpoint is kept in browser session storage. Local extension storage holds a migration flag and storage status notices.

Tabmood has no server, telemetry, remote fonts, or cloud synchronization. The extension does not send your browsing history to adik dev studio or sell or share it for advertising.

Retention and your controls

Tracking can be paused or resumed in the extension. Browsing history is kept for 30 days by default. You can choose 7, 30, 90, or 365 days, or keep it until you delete it. Expired visits are removed at tracking checkpoints while the browser is running, so cleanup is not an exact timer.

If browser storage fills, Tabmood may remove the oldest recorded day to save new activity and shows a warning. You can download your retained history, categories, rules, and preferences as a local JSON file. The extension also offers other local export controls. Downloaded files remain under your control.

Clear history in Settings & privacy to remove visits and summaries while keeping categories, rules, and preferences. A full reset removes data stored in the extension database. Uninstalling removes the extension’s local storage, but does not remove files you exported or any separate browser or profile backups.

Browser permissions

• Tabs: identifies the active website and tab changes for time tracking.
• Storage: keeps the temporary tracking checkpoint and local migration and status flags.
• Alarms: periodically saves browsing time and removes expired history.
• Idle: pauses tracking when the device is inactive or locked.

How data is used

Tabmood uses browser data only to provide its browsing time features and exports you request. Its use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
